Whilst I agree this shouldn't include a PackageGroupID for anything less than or equal to 2.0, as 3.5 is a superset of 2.0, I would like to see Framework 3.5 added as a PackageGroupID for Legacy Purposes. I have customers that are not comfortable adding newer versions.
3.5 is the Default for Windows7, but must be downloaded in cases where 3.5 is required for operation in XP, and yes I know the official support Window is closed for XP, but many users refuse to upgrade, using the adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it...", and most users don't even know there is a .NET Framework other than the one installed on their system, unless told to use Windows Update.
On a technical note, is this easy to fix? Is it just a matter of adding links and a checksum into the source code? If needed, I'd like to take this as my first fix...
